One of the world’s most accomplished and celebrated sailors, Ken Read will present an opening keynote address at the World Yacht Racing Forum in Sweden on 11th December.

Ken has an impressive resume which includes his 'United States Rolex Yachtsman of the Year' title of which he won twice, along with 46 World, North American, and National Championships in a variety of classes.

Having skippered PUMA Ocean Racing in the last two Volvo Ocean Races, at the end of last year Ken Read took on a new challenge when he stepped into the role of President of the North Sails Group.

'I am delighted to be involved in the World Yacht Racing Forum to support our industry. The sport needs to grow so the industry can thrive and survive.' commented Ken. 'There is no doubt that as market leaders and as business leaders within sailing we need to do a better job of it - the World Yacht Racing Forum gives the sailing world a unique chance to be able to gather together and help shape the future of our industry and sport.'

The World Yacht Racing Forum is now in it’s sixth year and returning to Gothenburg in Sweden. With the Americas Cup taking place in September, there will be an opportunity to discuss it’s impact on the industry and look to the future, both for the Cup and the industry as a whole.

Ken Read will be joined by other leading industry experts speaking on the programme including;

Knut Frostad, CEO, Volvo Ocean Race
Mark Turner, Executive Chairman, OC Sport
Guillaume Verdier, Naval Architect
Peter Bayer, MD, Open Sports Management, former CEO of Youth Olympic Games 2012
Guillaume Henry, Director, Vendee Globe
