Sydney 38 One Design Boat and Crew Database

by Rob Kothe on 10 Oct 2003
The Boat database is a comprehensive information package that will allow all owners and charterers to keep their boats information up to date online. The purpose of this database is to allow owners to have a single access point to download data for race entries and charter availability and thus save the hours spent on repetitive paperwork for Club administered race entries.

Sydney 38 Owners are now asked to update their own Boat information as soon as possible. This can be done section by section to build the complete record set.

Owners should go on-line via the www.Sydney38ClassAssociation.com website, using the supplied user name and password, which will be sent to you again today by separate email. Once on-line owners can change username and password to their own easier to remember details.

A lengthy part of any race entry is completing the Crew List. The S38OD Boat Database links to the Crew Database allowing skippers to download a complete crew list including all details such as Next of Kin, Wet Weather Gear Colour and Yachting Australia Number, as well as details of First aid, Radio Certificates or Safety at Sea Certificates.

The Crew Database allows all S38OD crews, and those wishing to compete in the class, to list their complete sailing biography and help their skippers with the onerous task of race entries.

To enable Skipper to view crew data, their crew will need to enter their Skipper’s Yachting Australia number in their record files. To speed the Crew Database entry procedure, Skippers are asked to forward this email to their crew along with their own Yachting Australia membership number and a request that crews complete the data set online at www.sydney38classassociation.com New Crew Registration as soon as possible.

Skippers will shortly also be able to search the database to look for unattached crew based on skill, weight, location or experience, who are already registering with the Class Association.

Of course security is essential in all databases and the information held is completely controlled by its owner. Password protection ensures that there is no unauthorised access of personal information.

To add your name to the Crew Database log onto www.sydney38classassociation.com and go to the Crew Database tag.
