Interactivity in the RYA Active Marina Program SW
After the success of the inaugural RYA Active Marina Experience at last year’s Southampton Boat Show, the RYA is delighted to announce that the Active Marina Experience is back for 2013 and this year it’s going to be even bigger.

The event in association with on-the-water and Which Marina, is part of the RYA Active Marina programme which encourages boaters to get more out of life with their boats by gaining the confidence and skills to leave their berths and get out on the water more often.

From berthing and boat handling, to engine maintenance and VHF, the free on-the-water and shore based workshops will provide visitors with the opportunity to refresh their boating skills and gain some real hands-on experience throughout the show (13-22 September).

'We are delighted to be returning to the Southampton Boat Show with the RYA Active Marina Experience. The workshops are tailor made to build the knowledge and boost the confidence of boaters of all abilities' said RYA Yachting Development Officer Guy Malpas.

'This year's offer provides even more opportunity to refresh your skills with two F40 yachts, Sealine 390 Flybridge, Pilothouse Cruiser (Quiksilver 580) and a RIB'.

Places are very limited so it is highly recommended you book your sessions in advance.

A limited number of on-water workshops will be available to book in advance from the 27 August on the RYA Active Marina website. You can also book by visiting the ‘Try-a-Boat’ booking point on stand A140 when you arrive at the show. Participants must be aged 16 or over.

Shore based workshops will be held on the Which Marina Stand (F004) can be booked in advance by emailing Bookings@which-marina.com. Navionics are offering all those who pre-book a shore based workshop a free award-winning Navionics Chart Plotter iphone app.

The RYA Active Marina Programme encourages and supports increased berth holder activity by partnering with marinas, RYA recognised training centres, berth holder groups and yacht clubs to establish or enhance a programme of training, cruising and social opportunities.

For further information about the programme, booking and to find a workshop schedule visit www.rya.org.uk/go/activemarina

RYA Members will be able to gain access to the Southampton Boat Show every day (including press preview day) for £11.00 when they buy advanced tickets, saving £9.00 off the cost of a ticket purchased on the door. (a fee of £1.75 applies per transaction). Don’t forget to come and see us on the RYA stand (EO37) or relax in the exclusive RYA members lounge.
