At the Hobie Tiger and Wild Cat World Championships, the race committee decided to abandon all racing today when the winds were gusting to 28 knots on the race course. The sent the boats out but with the strong winds and rough sea they sent the boats back to shore after one race hoping the wind would ease. Unfortunately the wind didn’t abate which left the committee no option but to abandon the racing for the day and the overnight scores remained.

Robbie Lovig (AUS) and Andy Dinsdale (FRA) won the the seventh Hobie Tiger Worlds. For Lovig he moved up from his third place at the previous Hobie Tiger Worlds. Lovig and Dinsdale teamed up about a month ago and have been traing for these worlds.

They beat former Hobie 14 world champion Allan and Danielle lawrence father and son team from South Africa. Followed by another father and son team Blaine and Peter from South Africa. Blaine is former Hobie 16 World Championships and 18 time South African Champion.

Lovig and Dinsdale can be proud of their win beating such a star studded field.

Emeric Dary (FRA) and Maxime Blondeau (FRA) have won the first Hobie Wild Cat World Championship. They lead from day one and never lost the lead. Though always in close pursuit was the young Danish brothers Daniel and Nicolaj Bjornholt. The Bjornholt are a very young team having just completed their youth apprenticeship having represented Denmark at the past three ISAF Youth Worlds. With only two points separating them form the lead they maybe disappointed but the have a long future in the Hobie class. Daniel Paysen (GER) and Nico Heinrich (GER) finished third and sailed constantly throughout the regatta.

These new Hobie World Champions join the Hobie World Championships honour,,board along with yesterdays Hobie 14 World Champion Arnaud Thieme (FRA) and Hobie Dragoon World Champion Tom Heinrich (GER) and Lea Selin Zisler(GER).

The International Hobie Class Association thanks all those sailors for attending these Multi Worlds and making them such a success.
