University Yacht Racing Nationals - Fierce battles on day 1

by University Racing on 26 Jul 2013
Sydney University team - Milly Bennet , Jaiden Stevens (Skipper) , Tim Lake & Hamish Hardy - University Yacht Racing Nationals university racing
University Yacht Racing Nationals Day 1 was very light wind affair. The wind initially started blowing from the west and then swung from the North East after race one. The fleet spent an hour under postponement. The race committee had done a fantastic job getting in all three races yesterday.

Jaiden Stevens has been the dominant skipper thus far but as overall results show the scores are very close and there's nothing in it. The breeze will be similar today and if it’s clear again then the sea breeze will come in again around early afternoon. The races have been really close and any of the tops four can still win the inaugural national championships

What is all the fuss about the 2013 Australian Universities Yacht Racing Championships ? The national champion gets to represent Australia at the 33rd Student Yachting World Cup in Pronic, France from 13th-19th website!

Overall standing after three races
1. Jaidan Stevens University of Sydney six pts
2. Murray Jones Newcastle University seven pts
3. Beren Beowulf University of Sydney eight pts
4. James Burman Macquarie University nine pts
