SB20 UK Grand Slam competitors will enjoy a party which has been made possible by the suppliers and supporters of the SB20 Class on Saturday 3rd August. A post racing BBQ party will take place at UKSA on the banks of the River Medina, Cowes, providing a great opportunity for the fleet to share tales of the first day of racing at the UK Grand Slam.

Tony Castro, designer of the SB20 will attend joined by Rob White of White Formula, the class builder from
Brightlingsea, Essex. Class suppliers, Harken, Official Equipment Sponsor to the SB20 class will be represented by Tom Peters along with spar suppliers Selden’s, Richard Adams. Richard Franks of Hyde Sails, the only sail maker permitted by the SB20 class’ strict one design rules, will also join the party. Guests from GAC Pindar, Bolle and Zhik are also invited to attend the class party.

'It’s a great opportunity for the suppliers of the class to meet the sailors, catch up with old friends and show their support to our great class,' explained Alan Hillman. 'Tony Castro is a great supporter of the class and sees future growth to be generated by excellent events in carefully selected venues; just like the UK Grand Slam at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week.'

The SB20 Class’ UK Grand Slam offers the class two races per day for the first four days of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week (3rd – 6th August). Entrants will enjoy the first start of the day from the Royal Yacht Squadron, followed by a second race start form a committee boat and the final finish of the day on the Royal Yacht Squadron line.

'For many sailors in the SB20 Class, time away from the office is tight, so this format provides plenty of bang for your buck,' added Chris Darling, UK SB20 Class Association Chairman, 'We’re extremely grateful to the organisers of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week for being so open minded and enthusiastic in adapting to the needs of the SB20 Class.'

The prize giving for the UK Grand Slam will be held on Tuesday 6th August at UKSA where prizes from the class suppliers will be distributed amongst the fleet and the Sportsboat World Trophy will be presented to the winner of the inaugural UK Grand SB20 Class
