Newport Exhibition Group revealed today its 2013 Welcome To The Water (WTTW) program at this year’s Newport International Boat Show – scheduled to take place September 12th through 15th in Newport, Rhode Island.

Developed by Discover Boating, WTTW provides sailors and powerboaters of all experience levels the opportunity to take to the water in a vessel similar to their current boat or one they may be interested in purchasing or chartering, and receive hands-on skills training from professional instructors who are U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains. Expanding the boat show experience to include a true boating experience at the helm on the open water, Newport gives showgoers the opportunity to get the most value from the largest boat show in New England.

'Following our successful implementation of the Welcome To The Water program last year, we are very pleased to offer even more opportunities for individuals to learn and experience the joys of boating this September,' said Tom Delotto, director of Newport Exhibition Group. 'Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about boating by signing up for a variety of low-cost on-water activities in Newport Harbor to polish existing skills and learn new ones with professional instructors in training vessels from 20’ to 40 feet. This experience is very effective at generating first time interest in boat ownership and reigniting the desire of existing boaters to explore their upgrade options.'

Hosted by the Newport International Boat Show with a curriculum developed by Discover Boating, the WTTW program is an extremely cost effective opportunity for hands-on training that increases boating safety and confidence. Activities last from one to three hours and require a modest registration fee. The WTTW headquarters will be located near the main entrance to the show and all trainings will depart from, and return to, the docks within the Boat Show grounds. Expected to draw tens of thousands to historic Newport, the Newport International Boat Show will take place September 12-15, 2013 on the Newport Waterfront along America’s Cup Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island. One of the largest in-water boat shows in the country, the event will host nearly 750 exhibitors from around the world with an exceptional assortment of boats of every type and style from 15 to 85 feet, and a wide variety of accessories, equipment, electronics, gear and services for boaters. Online tickets are available through the Newport International Boat Show website. Tickets for Thursday, September 12th, VIP Day, are $27 in advance and $30 on the day of the show. Admission for Friday, Saturday or Sunday, September 13th, 14th or 15th is $15 in advance and $18 on show days. Children under 12 are admitted free any day when accompanied by an adult. On Friday only, visitors with a valid Military or Newport County Resident ID receive half price admission.
