Hervey Bay boat builder sets sail for overseas markets

by Eva Hough on 23 Jul 2013 Boat Builder BtB Marine proudly announces their expansion into their just completed production facility at Driftwood Court, Urangan, Hervey Bay.

This milestone coincides with the fifth anniversary of BtB Marine’s establishment. The company will be inviting their major customers and suppliers to an event to celebrate this achievement on Friday 9th August.

This celebration will showcase the latest build, a 12.8m landing craft for a client in the Solomon Islands.

'We are excited about building these boats because they support economic growth for the Pacific Islanders. The Islanders can be proud to be part of their own economy while still maintaining their traditional way of life' said Eva Hough, Director of BtB Marine.

BtB Marine has been developing and sending boats to the Pacific region since 2009, teaming up with local Governments, EU Micro Projects and AusAid and has been promoting safe boating throughout the Pacific.

Since their start in 2008, BtB Marine has added a small fleet of workboats to the waters, harbours and marinas in Australia and overseas. Some of these vessels, like Gladstone Port Corporation’s Oil-Response-Vessel and Vision Environment’s Water-Testing-Vessels, are used to protect and monitor the Australian Marine Environment.

'Being passionate about the environment, means being passionate about collaboration and sharing new ideas around,' said Chris Hough, General Manager of BtB Marine. 'This is why BtB Marine has developed long term collaborations with some of Australia’s best Naval Architects, Marine Designers and Surveyors like Peter Holms from Direct Marine Solutions, Steve Chappel from Wavemaster Design and Andrew McDonald-Smith from McDonald-Smith Marine Designers amongst others. Our business platform is really a collaborative platform through which we can realise our company’s and customer’s vision of building boats for the great Australian environment.'

BtB Marine participated in a program last year to identify new markets and opportunities by building on existing supply chains.

'We couldn’t have developed this collaborative platform without the great support of the Queensland Government,' Chris Hough said. The program developed by the Queensland Government, introduced BtB Marine to the specialist skills of Rodin Genoff from Rodin Genoff and Associates.

Chris and Eva Hough extolled the services provided by Rodin Geonoff. 'Rodin has assisted us to take our business to the next level.'
