Saint-Petersburg will host the splendour of classics - 2013 Classic Week, Saint Petersburg Sergey Bystrov http://www.yacht-club-spb.ru/
Another busy week on the European and International sailing scene with ongoing regattas and much more racing action to look forward to.

For the second year in a row, the Yacht Club of Saint-Petersburg will welcome a fleet of stunning Classic Yachts to the historic and former capital city of Russia for Classic Yacht Week 2013. The event consists of a regatta and festival and will run from the 23rd to the 29th July.

The 2013 Sail First ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship had its opening ceremony in Limassol, Cyprus, with ISAF President Carlo Croce officially welcoming 351 sailors from 61 nations. Sixty one flag bearers and their teams paraded from Limassol’s old castle towards Limassol promenade where local people, tourists, families and friends attended to view the spectacle. More inside…

The world's fastest and most technologically advanced monohull racing yacht, Esimit Europa 2, will take part in the IRC Big Boats Class at the UK's oldest established sporting event, Cowes Week, from August 3 to 10.

Esimit Europa is an expression of European competitiveness, dynamism and diplomacy with a unique, all European personality. It is the only European sports team, the only boat in the world officially allowed to sail under the European flag, and under the patronage of the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, supported by the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz.

Everything is set for the World Optimist Championships on Lake Garda. Boys and girls aged 12-14 from 58 nations and five continents will be on the water with each team having a maximum of five athletes. For some the objective is to reach the podium, while for others it's being part of the most important event in under 14 juvenile sailing. The individual and team regattas will take place from 17th until 25th July.

The RS Feva World Championships are taking place in Marina di Grosseto, Italy between 21st and 26th July. The racing starts on 22 July with last races and prize giving on Friday 26. The venue has been well tested with the F18 Worlds which finished there last week, so all systems are go. Updates and photos will be available daily.

On the opening day of the 2013 Coutts Quarter Ton Cup, there were more glamorous classes, modern classes, undoubtedly more expensive classes, but you would have to go a long way to find a class that offers more spectacularly close racing and bang for your buck than the Quarter Ton Class. The pace was fast and furious and four different boats claimed a race victory.

Lots more news inside… and yes we do have a little on the America´s Cup with Artemis having successfully been stress tested today.
