New- Rail Pod allows easy retrofit of instruments in cockpit

by Sail-World Cruising on 10 Jul 2013
Scanstrut Rail Pod SW
Current sailing boat designs often have very open cockpits with few options for installing retro-fit instruments. But the ingenuity of the commercial sailing world knows no bounds, and UK Company Scanstrut Ltd has extended their successful Scanpod range with the launch of the new Rail Pod.

This, dependent on the size and shape of your cockpit, might be a great new way to retrofit your smaller displays and instruments onboard with ease.

With wide, open cockpits being popular with modern sailboat designs, installing retro-fit instruments can often be problematic. The Rail Pod solves this problem by enabling smaller instruments and chartplotters to be mounted anywhere onboard, so long as there is a suitably sized rail.

Designed to fit pedestal rails from 25mm to 33.7mm (0.98' – 1.33'), the product offers the perfect solution for fitting a chartplotter to the upright or top of standard rails with the added benefit of fitting at the top of a curved rail.

Designed to fit either a single instrument or a 7' display such as the Raymarine e7 or Garmin 700 series, its smart design allows for hidden cable routing into the rail itself. During fitting, the pod can be rotated to change the viewing angle, then locked in place.

Universal Fixing:
Fits pedestal rails from 25mm to 33.7mm (0.98' – 1.33'). Fit your display onto standard and curved rails.

Great Viewing Options:
Viewing angle can be set upon installation. Cables are routed internally through the clamp and onto the rail.

Increased Protection:
Pod seal is manufactured from a high tear strength silicone, it has a very high resistance to heat and UV so you can have confidence that it won’t deteriorate over time.

Supplied Uncut:
As standard you will receive your Scanpod uncut.

Part numbers:
SPR-1i-RM
Rail mounted pod for 1 x standard instrument
SPR-7-RM
