Superyacht Australia awarded Asian Century Business Grant

by AIMEX-Superyacht Australia on 9 Jul 2013
SW
The peak body for the Australian Superyacht Industry, Superyacht Australia, has recently been awarded an Asian Century Business Grant in a bid to drive opportunities for the industry in Asia.

Given the small number of organisations awarded these grants, Superyacht Australia is excited that their project was seen as significant. It certainly is designed to develop and promote Australian capabilities and build valuable networks across the Asia region. A total of 27 member-based business organisations were awarded grants out of a possible 95.

Superyacht Australia applied for the grant after identifying that Asia was becoming a growth destination for superyachts with many requiring repairs, routine maintenance and refits. Given the huge capability in Australia for servicing Superyacht requirements and their global reputation it was seen as critical for Australia to establish better links in Asia.

The objective of Superyacht Australia’s Asian exploratory mission is to research the opportunities for joint ventures, the sharing of facilities and to promote what Australia has to offer.

Superyacht Australia will visit four regions in Asia where they believe there is significant opportunity. The Australian superyacht sector recognises the fact that their proximity to Asia presents enormous possibilities. The tyranny of distance Australia suffers when looking at other global markets does not exist in Asia.

Superyacht Australia CEO, MaryAnne Edwards said: 'we have a distinct advantage in this region, the proximity, the time zones and our reputation for quality puts us ahead of the competition.'

Superyacht Australia consistently endeavors to promote the Australian superyacht sector’s capabilities on a global scale and is confident that by receiving the Asian Century Business Grant more opportunities will be opened up.
