World Match Racing Tour- Estate Master returns

by Estate Master Media Team on 2 Jul 2013
Reece celebrates after placing 2nd in 2012. The team will be looking for the same result in August - Chicago Match Cup Isao Toyama
Jordan Reece and his Estate Master Sailing Team, this August, return to the ALPARI World Match Racing Tour after receiving the final invitation to the 2013 Chicago Match Cup hosted by Chicago Match Race Center.

Twelve of the world's best teams will sail against each other in match race sailing, a form of head-to-head combat similar to the America's Cup, just feet from the edge of Navy Pier. They will compete for their share of the $100,000 prize money purse and earn points toward the World Championship, worth $1.75 million in prize money - the richest in the sailing world.

This will be Reece’s second appearance at this International Sailing Federation World Championship event, following up on their impressive second place finish in 2012, a result that announced the team’s arrival as a world class competitor and made Reece the youngest ever skipper to compete in a World Tour final. Estate Master were granted the entry to this years event though a qualifying event held in August, 2012.

Estate Master will be one of two Australian teams competing in the event, alongside Tour Card holder and 2011 Chicago Match Cup winner Keith Swinton. Swinton competed in the event in 2012 but was ultimately knocked out by Reece and his team in the repechage round of the event.

This year the Chicago Match Cup will set sail alongside one of Chicago’s most popular attractions, the Tall Ships Festival. With the combination of these two world class events an estimated 500,000 people are expected to visit Navy Pier each day. Both events will take place from August 6-11. Navy Pier's east end will be transformed to showcase the best of the Chicago Match Cup and the Tall Ships, promising front-row seats, hospitality areas and live commentary to best enjoy the thrills on the water. Within the festival area, family-friendly activities including tours on board the tall ships, sail-aways, and a fireworks display each evening promise to captivate tourists and locals alike.

The Chicago Match Cup, the only U.S. stop on the 2013 ALPARI World Match Racing Tour, will feature all 8 2013 Tour Card holders including defending champion and World Number 1 Ian Williams. Also included in the line up is qualifying skipper William Tiller (FMJ Racing) and Wild Card entrants Don Wilson and Gavin Brady along with Reece and the Estate Master Sailing Team.
