Arvor Weekender – 7m of versatile boating

by Jeni Bone on 24 Jun 2013
Arvor-Weekender-4 Collins Marine
The Arvor Weekender with its semi-planning hull is the big sister in the Arvor range, with all the sea keeping qualities and performance, plus some of life’s little luxuries and room enough for seven.

Where its stable mates are internationally renowned primarily as day fishing boats, this model has a softer side to pamper and impress the fairer sex, the whole family or friends. After a day’s fishing and cruising it’s time to head for a sheltered cove and drop anchor for the night.

Remaining true to the Arvor brand, the Weekender keeps important aspects; the deep-sided cockpit has a self-draining floor, walk-around access to the bow that Arvor owners expect.

The high topside equates to an exceptionally dry ride. Arvor’s well known cockpit space has been shortened to allow for a larger, more luxurious cabin. Its neat arrangement provides a large vee-berth, convertible dinette, workable galley with 12-volt fridge, a gas stove, private head compartment and two sinks with pressurised water. The helm station to starboard has a comfortable bucket seat and neatly placed gauges.

The large windows allow light to flood in but keep out the rain and icy wind. Occupants can enjoy boating 12 months of the year on any waterway.

Walking outside the lockable cabin, you will be able to relax in style. Whether you choose to drop a line, entertain friends, or enjoy an afternoon siesta on the folding sun bed.

It sports a single Cummins CMD 150hp diesel, mid-mounted for superior balance and driving a shaft for ultimate reliability. Top speed is 22 knots and fuel economy is something petrol outboards and stern drives can only dream about.
The Weekender has the benefit of being trailerable, giving you the luxury of being able to explore any or every part of Australia’s coastline.

'It ticks all the critical Arvor boxes – diesel, shaft, bow thruster, lockable cabin, self-draining cockpit, walk-around decks – while also allowing owners to sleep aboard with their family and friends,' says Peter Collins from Collins Marine. 'It’s ideal for any waterways and places as diverse as Hobart, Gippsland Lakes, Pittwater, Port Stephens, right up to Far North Queensland.'

Among the standard features on this European-built vessel are a bowthruster and trim tabs to give the driver complete control, plus an electric windlass operated from the helm.
