The fourteenth edition of the Argentario Sailing Week, the international regatta reserved for classic yachts, commenced on Thursday in Maremma, Tuscany. The majestic yachts were docked in Porto Santo Stefano as registrations were completed at the Race Village and sailing lovers admired close-up the classic beauties which have made the history of yachting for over a century. Sunny skies, a nice westerly breeze that built up to 15 knots in the afternoon provided perfect training conditions for some of the over 40 yachts from 6 nations taking part in the race. Racing starts today, Friday June 14th, with the first warning signal scheduled at 11 a.m. On Thursday evening the welcome cocktail took place at the Yacht Club Santo Stefano club house. On Friday owners and crews will dine at the Tenuta Agricola dell'Uccellina. On Saturday yachties can enjoy an Oyster Cocktail with wines offered by Bortolomiol and finally, on Sunday June 16th, the Prize giving Ceremony will be followed by a Farewell cocktail held at the Race Village in in Piazza dei Rioni. The yachts are divided in five categories: Vintage, Classic, Big Boats, Spirit of Tradition, Metric classes and One Design. Racing will take place from the 14th to the 16th of June.

Daily awards for the first of each division in classes Vintage, Classic, Spirit of Tradition, Big Boats and 5.5 SI. Officine Panerai will award a silver plate for the first, second, and third in each division in the Vintage, Classic, Spirit of Tradition, Big Boats and 5.5 SI classes. Overall winners in classes Classic, Vintage, Big Boat and Spirit of Tradition will receive a Officine Panerai watch.. The Argentario Sailing Week is organized by the Yacht Club Santo Stefano with the support of the Monte Argentario municipality, of AIVE (Italian Association of Vintage Yachts), the Chamber of Commerce of Grosseto and the local tourism board.
