Muir anchor windlass - they’re not all on superyachts SW
Muir Windlasses have long been a familiar name to those who anchor - and isn't that every cruising sailor... but did you know they export to more than 40 countries around the world? Now Muir have won a deserved major industry award.

The Tasmanian-based company was recently awarded the prestigious 'Superyacht Industry Business of the Year – Manufacturer' at the 2013 Club Marine Australian Marine Export and Superyacht Industry Awards.

Company director and founder John Muir was also recognised as the Marine Export and Superyacht Industry Champion and inducted into the Australian Marine Export and Superyacht Industry Hall of Fame.

Muir managing director Matthew Johnston said John – who was overseas and could not attend the awards ceremony in Queensland – was delighted to be recognised by AIMEX and Superyacht Australia.

'John is well-known and respected within the Australian and international superyacht industry, having made a significant impact and contribution,' he said.

'John has been working with Europe's most reputable and prestigious superyacht yards for many years.

'Muir's international strategy saw exports account for 65 to 70 per cent of the business in 2013.'

Johnston said being named Superyacht Industry Business of the Year – Manufacturer was appropriate recognition for the company's hard work over the past 12 months.

Muir's complete range of anchor windlasses, anchoring systems and deck equipment is exported from Tasmania to more than 40 countries.
