Korea Match Cup - Ian Williams through to quarter finals

At the Korea Match Cup, Ian Williams, skipper of Team GAC Pindar, has secured his place in the quarter finals of with an outstanding 10-1 record in the round-robin qualifying round.
The Korea Match Cup is the second event in the 2013 Alpari World Match Racing Tour, with the racing taking place in Jeongok and Jebu off the west coast of Gyeonggi Province. Conditions have proved to be mixed over the past three days, with a mixture of sunshine and colder, foggy weather, but Ian Williams, the reigning Match Racing World Champion, secured his quarter-final berth early on, racing to an 8-0 lead at the end of day two, and topping qualifying today with a near-flawless performance. However, defending Korea Match Cup champion Bjorn Hansen bowed out of the competition, failing to make it past the round robin stage.
Ian now faces Australian David Gilmour, skipper of Team Gilmour, in tomorrow's quarter finals and will be hoping to secure his passage to Sunday's semi-finals and final.
Ian commented: 'We've worked hard to make our way through qualifying here in Korea and the racing has been far tougher and closer than the results might suggest. I'm pleased with how the week has gone so far, but we know that there is still a long way to go and our attention right now is completely focused on tomorrow's quarter final.'
