13th Summer Sailstice goes for global and wants your help

by John Arndt/Sail-World Cruising on 29 May 2013
Summer Sailstice SW
Summer Sailstice, the grand celebration of sailing on the weekend closest to the summer solstice, is not far away, and you can help make it, in its thirteenth year, more global, more truly inclusive of every northern hemisphere sailing nation. First make sure you have set aside the weekend of the 22nd June to celebrate yourself, and then read on to find out how you can help.

Here's the idea. Do you know a sailor in another harbour around the world? Summer Sailstice is trying to increase their international participation this year to even more countries, worldwide. Know a sailor in Ireland? Turkey? Thailand? India? Russia? All it takes is a second. Just forward the link to Summer Sailstice and help them connect the sailing community of sailors in all locations across the globe!

Sailing is exploding in popularity in countries where it is relatively new as a leisure sport in modern times. In both China and India a solo sailor has successfully completed the first non-stop and unassisted voyage around the world this year. In both countries the two sailors were given a hero's welcome on their return.

Ask your worldwide buddies to sign up and join you out on the water as they sail 'with you' in the 2013 Summer Sailstice on June 22nd. Help make the solstice weekend kick off this summer with all sails hoisted and all over the world!

Here's another idea - join Summer Sailstice on FACEBOOK! - you don't want to miss any sailing! Summer Sailstice was started in 2001 to unite the saililng world in this very special way, every year.

Don't forget that you can also win prizes by entering one of Summer Sailstice's many contests. Add your sailing plans and you could win a cruise in the Caribbean or any of dozens of other prizes.

Here's the link to use - and send to all your friends in far and near countries: www.summersailstice.com
