The 2013 BIA Melbourne Boat Show will pack more boats, fishing gear, boating accessories and destinations than ever into the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 14 to 17 June.

For the 53rd annual show, the Boating Industry Association has a clever new floorplan which packs extra excitement and innovation into every square metre of the giant venue.

Star attractions include great new boats from Australia’s – and the world’s – leading manufacturers, and the latest in high-tech marine electronics.

BIA general manager Steven Gill said it was the perfect place to experience the joys of the boating lifestyle, whether fishing, skiing or just lazing around on the water.

'We have it all this year, including loads of action and prizes on the Trailerboat Superstage, where Lee Rayner heads a great program of information, education and entertainment,' he said.

'Naturally, we also have Flathead Fred’s Fun Fishing Show for Kids, the perennial favourite with kids and parents alike.

'For the ultimate interactive treat, we have amazing navigation simulators, where show-goers can navigate the world’s waterways from the simulated helm of a small boat or even a giant ship.

'In additional to the serious safety messages and the educational value, the vibrating deck and warning horns deliver Fun with a capital F.'

Mr Gill said the show had everything a boatie could imagine, from a fishing rod to a blue-water fishing boat, or a welding rod to a high-powered personal water craft.

'There are great destinations for boating in Victoria, or maybe fishing in Samoa, plus the latest anchors and clever docking devices for when you bring the boat home,' he said.

'For those new to boating, the Coast Guard has special licence training and testing sessions to qualify for their boat licence – always popular with young and old alike.

'Better still, we offer a free boat handling course to everyone who buys a boat at the show, so they can get the best out of their new pride and joy.'

The 53rd Annual BIA Melbourne Boat Show runs from Friday 14 June to Monday 17 June at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. It is open from 10am each day, until 9pm on Friday, 8pm on Saturday and 7pm on Sunday and Monday.
