The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, has announced that its ninth Annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard in Our Nation’s Capital will take place on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

The keynote speaker for the dinner will be Admiral Robert Papp, Commandant of the United States Coast Guard. Noted comedian and musician, Mark Russell will add his unique blend of music and comedy to the evening. The annual event will pay tribute to the men and women of the service and raise funds and awareness for the programs and projects of the Coast Guard Foundation.

'This tribute dinner will be an exceptional event,' said Robert J. Flynn, chairman of the board, Coast Guard Foundation.

'We are honored to support the men and the women of the United States Coast Guard, and look forward to Mark Russell bringing humor and good cheer to the occasion.'

For more than 50 years, Mark Russell’s brand of comedy has entertained people all over the country, with his unique perspective on the political process. Russell spent 30 years on public television as host of the Mark Russell Comedy Specials. During those same years he wrote a syndicated column and traveled across the United States performing at colleges, conventions and in theaters.

The Coast Guard Foundation’s ninth Annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard in Our Nation’s Capital will take place Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at 201 Waterfront St., National Harbor, Maryland. A cocktail reception will begin at 6:30 pm, dinner and the program will follow at 7:30 pm, and a champagne reception will cap the event.
