The bunting is up, signage aloft, gates are manned, pavilions full, complete with carpet, and vacuuming is the last chore before visitors and VIPS enter SCIBS 2013, starting tomorrow, Thursday 23 May from 9am.

Gold Coast Mayor, Tom Tate, will be officiating at the opening ceremony, declaring the 25th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show open for media and early guests.

Then, the business deals and demonstrations will begin in earnest.

Organisers say that the more than 300 exhibitors are primed and enthused about this year’s 25th anniversary show, which features some major international and national launches, top class entertainment and marine-related activities for kids, women and all ages and inclinations.

On show, hundreds of boats from all over the country and around the world, including young Sophie Bone's absolute favourite - 'the pink Barbie boat' - promoting Stefan Boating World, which will have some of the powerboat champ's new range of RIBs and fishing boats on display.

Despite the slight drizzle, the mood among exhibitors is positive, buoyed in part by interest rates their lowest ever, rising consumer confidence and a renewed interest in boating which is the feedback from dealers at the front line.

The MarineBusiness-World and Sail-World teams will be in the main pavilion – you can’t miss it – so drop in if you have new products, VIPs visiting or just want to say ‘hi’. We will be circulating, with eager Griffith University media students assisting us for this year’s coverage.
