Atlantic Cup - GryphonSolo2 ready for Leg 2

This is the first report from sea for GryphonSolo2 in leg 2 of the Atlantic Cup presented by 11th Hour Racing. After sailing a very fun pro-am race, we prepared our boat and ourselves for another venture into the North Atlantic in May. The starting gun went off at 2:00 pm in the Hudson River in front of the Statue of Liberty, and the fleet raced together out of New York harbor and down the coast of New Jersey to a turning mark off of Barnegat Inlet.
We are currently in fourth place but the boats are all within a half mile of one another as we sail at the eight knot wind speed under code zeros. This promises to be very close racing as the boats are very even in boat speed. Tristan and I are joined on this leg by camera man Will, who is filming the voyage. This should be pretty cool to view once it is edited and set to music.
So, on we go, with a bit of light rain and fog and a long night of tweaking and trimming the sails to squeeze out every last bit of speed. The finish line in Newport is about 200 miles away so we have a probable finish sometime tomorrow night.
