Hutchwilco Auckland Boat Show- Around the Show - Sailing Hall - 1

Hamish Hey demonstrates how to hoist the spinnaker - Hutchwilco Auckland Boatshow 2013 - Day 2 Richard Gladwell www.photosport.co.nz

Sail-World is at the Hutchwilco Auckland Boatshow in the Sailing Hall which features all racing boats from Optimists and P-Class to the Olympic Gold Medal winning 470, and the Silver Medal winning 49er.

Centrepiece of the Sailing Hall is the Hoist a Kite 'competition' where anyone can try out their ability to hoist a spinnaker and drop it back into the bag.

The record is held by Yachting New Zealand RSO, Hamish Hey, at 13 seconds (and he was claiming that he had a back injury!). Four of the the top five are all 18ft sailors - wonder why?

Outside you can see the new VX One Design, and other rigged bigger yachts.

With the weather looking set to close in for the weekend, this is a great opportunity to see a wide range of boats and products, and have a chat to the sailors on the various stands and boats
