India International Boat Show In Cochin

by Event Website on 6 Aug 2003
The India International Boat Show, organized by Kerala Tourism jointly with India Tourism, will be held in Cochin from 26th to 28th September 2003 and is expected to be South Asia's premier boat and maritime event.

The boat show will recieve comprehensive support from the Southern Naval Command, Coast Guard, Kochi Port Trust and Cochin Shipyard and bring together tremendous business opportunities from in and around India to a common platform at Kochi. With a major publicity campaign already underway, IIBS is all set to become a big time event involving the participation of a large spectrum of exhibitors and buyers. The formation of a global media network at the event will ensure remarkable exposure for the participants in the relevant media.

According to Prof. K V Thomas, Minister for Tourism, Kerala, ' The first National Boat
Show, organised by Kerala Tourism, was a huge success and gained national attention.
Encouraged by the response, we are taking the show international and re-branding the event as the India International Boat Show. The scope of the event will be expanded with special segments for sports boating, leisure boating, defence boating, boating equipment and technology & software. This will be the premier event of its kind in the region between Middle East and East Asia.'

Last year's boat show had attracted over 50 exhibitors, 250 trade visitors and over 1,500 boating enthusiasts and was organised in association with Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Cochin Port Trust, Cochin Shipyard, India Tourism, National Institute Of Water Sports, CII, FICCI and Kerala Shipping & Inland Navigation Corporation. 'This year, we are targeting over 100 exhibitors of which about 35 will be from overseas. Participants will include boat builders, boat chandlers, boat interior designers, marina construction companies to shipyards and ports. The show will be the most comprehensive of its kind and we will cooperate with international trade fair organizers and boating media to ensure a world-class event.'

Kerala Tourism is open to sponsorships and marketing partnerships for the India
International Boat Show. Negotiations have been opened with international television
networks for sponsorship rights and the major boat publications are expected to form a media network to support the event.
