ilovesailing? - RYA says, 'If you do, prove it with a photo!'

Britain's Royal Yachting Association is wanting good photographers to enter their 'ilovesailing' photography competition and there are already two winners with two magnificent photographs which could make anyone say 'ilovesailing'. As a reward, the two photographers will have their winning entries in the ilovesailing calendar.

Alan Murray from Aberdeen and Jo Grierson from Poole in Dorset have been crowned the March ilovesailing photo calendar competition winners securing themselves a spot in the first ever ilovesailing calendar.

Alan’s glorious image entitled ‘Liquid Gold from The Paps of Jura’, was taken late evening in June 2012 at Craighouses, Isle of Jura after rounding the Mull of Kintyre en route to Orkney in his Maxi 1000, while Jo’s entry had a more mysterious quality, taken on a misty morning when they were out laying up for the winter and the local lads were out fishing already.

'We were really spoilt for choice', explained ilovesailing coordinator Emma Slater, 'with some 40 entries in March alone, picking just two winners was a pretty difficult affair, but Alan and Jo’s photos just seemed to have the edge and we think will look spectacular in the calendar.'

As well as a spot on the calendar Alan and Jo also clinched themselves their very own, and now much coveted, blue ilovesailing rubber duck as did Clare Williams from Abergavenny for her caption entry, about why she is a supporter / member of the RYA.

The ilovesailing calendar competition runs from March through to August 2013, with two photo and two caption winners being picked each month to appear on the 2014 calendar as well as receiving an ilovesailing rubber duckie.

All you have to do to take part is post your favourite sailing photo(s) on to the ilovesailing Facebook page www.facebook.com/ryailovesailing or email your entry to emma.slater@rya.org.uk, it’s that easy.

As well as the photo entries they are also asking for text entries answering either of the two statements; ‘I’m an RYA member because…’ or ‘I support the RYA because….’, in no more than 30 words.

Four winners; two photo and two caption, will be picked each month and the winners will be announced on the ilovesailing Facebook page and contacted via email. All winners will also receive a copy of the calendar when it is completed.

The calendars will go on sale at the PSP Southampton Boat Show 2013, with the first 50 people to purchase a copy also receiving a 2013 ilovesailing rubber duck.

Go to the page at www.facebook.com/ryailovesailing to get involved.
