Zhik WA Open Bic State Championships 2013 Jennifer Medd
Zhik Western Australia Bic State Championships 2013. What a wonderful weekend of sailing at the Perth Dinghy Sailing Club on the 23rd and 24th February 2013. Competition was fierce between 20 competitors, who had a wide range of racing experience. Light winds on the first day delayed starts and provided some challenging sailing.

At the end of the first day, Chris Gallen (Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club (RFBYC)) lead the competition with Jordan Bishop (RFBYC) and Oliver Medd (RFBYC) in hot pursuit, three points between them, and Emilia Horn (Perth Dinghy Sailing Club (PDSC), coming a close fourth.

Conditions improved on day two with five races sailed and competition hotting up as sailors embraced the windier conditions. Lochlan Medd (RFBYC), Joshua Edwards (Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club) and Ashleigh Newbury (PDSC) did their best to shake up the leaders but Chris and Emilia were too strong cementing their lead with three and two firsts respectively.

The final results for the open division were Chris Gallen (first), Jordan Bishop (second) and Emilia Horn (third).
Emilia Horn won the Open Girls Division, with Ashleigh Newbury (PDSC) second and Kaiella Taylor (Koombana Bay Yacht Club) third. The U13 Division was won by Jordan Bishop, with Lochlan Medd second and Jules Bertolini third.

We look forward to the Open Bic Nationals, hosted by Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club, over the Easter Weekend with over 50 boats expected to WA Open Bic State Championships 2013
