IRC and PHRF National Champs crowned at 2013 Port Nicholson Regatta

by RPNYC Events on 24 Feb 2013
Real Deal Div B PHRF national champion - 2013 Port Nicholson Regatta John Hardie

After three superb days of sailing in the Port Nicholson Regatta on Wellington Harbour the 2013 New Zealand IRC and PHRF keelboat champions have been crowned. Georgia took a clean sweep of the A Division winning both the IRC and A Division PHRF national titles while Real Deal won the B Division PHRF national title.

Georgia sailed a flawless regatta winning every race on line and taking five wins on IRC handicap and seven wins on PHRF handicap. This record not only gave Georgia two national champion crowns but also earned her the Ross Telford Memorial Trophy for the most outstanding yacht at the regatta.

'Georgia has been unstoppable all regatta and has been the stand out boat throughout all conditions' explained Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club Commodore Geoff Herd

'Jim Farmer and his crew are most deserving winners of both national titles as well as the Ross Telford Memorial trophy'.

In B Division Real Deal was almost as dominant winning three races on PHRF and placing second in a further three races.

Meanwhile local yacht Rosschild sailed a strong regatta to claim the B Division general handicap title while (surprise, surprise) Georgia won the A Division general handicap title.
