Riviera stages Miami debut for four new models

by Stephen Milne on 30 Jan 2013
Riviera's 5000th boat, the 445 SUV will make its Miami debut at the show Stephen Milne
Riviera’s newest models featuring the latest in pod drive propulsion technology will make their Miami debut at the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show held from February 14 to 18.

This new wave of boats from Australia’s largest and most awarded luxury boat builder, include the new 445 SUV, next generation 5000 Sport Yacht with twin Zeus, 5800 Sport Yacht, and 53 Enclosed Flybridge. All four models feature twin pod drive installations.

Riviera’s International Sales Director, Chris McCafferty says Riviera’s latest models will impress the American market with their sheer internal volume, high powered performance, world-leading quality, and robust Australian design.

'Americans are renowned for their love of all things ‘big’ and Riviera’s latest designs have certainly made great use of all on board space with all of the models on display featuring enormous cockpits, spacious well-appointed aft galleys, large master staterooms with the much sought after hull windows, and single level living and large entertaining spaces,' Mr McCafferty said.

'I look forward to showcasing the new 445 SUV and next generation 5000 Sport Yacht for the first time in Miami, and the recent sales successes of these new models is testament to their innovative design and build quality.

'Riviera has sold eight new 445 SUVs since its world release in July 2012, which is a fantastic achievement for a new model series. The 445 SUV was also celebrated as Riviera’s 5000th boat at a special gala event held in November last year.

'The launch of our 5000th boat is a major milestone in Riviera’s 32 year history and in celebration of this significant achievement, we will host a special commemorative evening for our international owners on the Saturday night of the Miami show.'

The new 445 is a true crossover between Riviera’s individual model series, combining the high performance, blue water cruising capabilities and large open cockpit of the classic Flybridge with the fish raising capabilities of the Offshore Express, and the leisurely single-level entertaining features of the popular Sport Yacht series. With the SUV series, Riviera has created a vessel like no other, which is a true bridge between all of them.

Riviera’s director of brand and communications Stephen Milne said the new twin engine configuration for the 5800 Sport Yacht and 53 Enclosed Flybridge was the way forward in terms of performance and efficiency.

'The twin IPS 900s maintain performance under load, making this engine configuration perfect for longer range cruising. We have owners that cruise each year from the Great Lakes to Florida, a distance of some 1400 nautical miles.'

'To undertake such extensive cruising you need economic fuel efficiency and the ability to maintain consistent boat speed often under full load conditions.'

'Greater horsepower gives greater fuel efficiency, stronger joystick performance, more torque, larger propellers, and is the way forward for Riviera,' Mr Milne said.

'Both the 5800 Sport Yacht and the 53 Enclosed Flybridge have excellent accessibility in the engine room, which will make servicing and routine inspections easy. Twin IPS in the 53 also makes provision for lazarette storage, similar to a shaft drive boat but with the performance and fuel efficiency of pod drives, giving owners the best of both worlds.'

Recent sea trials of these two vessels produced impressive results, with the 5800 Sport Yacht delivering a cruise speed of 25 knots with a fuel burn of 180 litres per hour. The 53 Enclosed Flybridge also comfortably cruised at 25 knots with a gyroscopic stabiliser fitted.

Riviera has held a strong presence at the Miami Yacht and Brokerage show and in its 13th year will retain its impressive Collins Avenue display, which is the first display at the southern end of Collins Avenue near the road bridge.

As one of the world’s largest and most prestigious boating events, the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show spans 1.2 million square feet in the heart of Miami Beach.

Riviera will exhibit six of its latest models including the new next generation 5000 Sport Yacht, new 445 SUV, 5800 Sport Yacht, 63 Enclosed Flybridge, 53 Enclosed Flybridge, and the 43 Open Flybridge.

'With such an impressive line up of new models on display, we are looking forward to a strong show,' Mr McCafferty said.

Riviera will also have information on the bespoke Belize Motoryacht range, which was recently named ‘most innovative new builder’ at the inaugural AIM (Active Interest Media) Marine Group Editors’ Choice Awards in Fort Lauderdale, USA. The Belize 52 is available in two models, the Sedan or Daybridge.

Riviera offers 15 different models from 36 to 75 feet across four model series Flybridge, Sport Yacht, Offshore Express and the new SUV collection.

Riviera also offers the bespoke Motor Yacht line, Belize Motoryachts. Inspired by classic luxury details and timeless style, Belize Motoryachts has recently released the new 52 foot Sedan and Daybridge models.
