Nespresso will join the 2013 America’s Cup as the Official Coffee of the event, continuing a strong relationship between the premium portioned coffee pioneer and the competition for the oldest trophy in international sport.

The agreement with the America’s Cup will allow Nespresso to create multiple brand and product experiences throughout the ‘Summer of Sailing’ in San Francisco. Fans and guests at the America’s Cup Park will have the opportunity to taste the ultimate cups: Nespresso Grand Cru coffees.

The new partnership also includes the America’s Cup World Series, which returns to Naples, Italy in April, before the world’s attention turns to San Francisco for a full summer of cutthroat competition, beginning with the Louis Vuitton Cup, America’s Cup Challenger Series (Jul. 4 – Aug. 30). The summer of sailing culminates with the America’s Cup Finals (Sept. 7-21) where ORACLE TEAM USA will race to defend the America’s Cup against the top challenger.

Stephen Barclay, CEO of the America’s Cup Event Authority, said: 'We are pleased and proud to welcome Nespresso as the Official Coffee of the 34th America’s Cup and look forward to being able to provide our guests, partners and fans with ‘the ultimate cup’ when they come to the America’s Cup Park in San Francisco.'

'We are proud to be supporting such a prestigious and exciting event,' said Patrice Bula, Chairman of Nespresso. 'Like the teams competing with cutting-edge technology in this ultimate sailing challenge, we strive for excellence. This partnership gives us the perfect opportunity to showcase Nespresso on a global stage.'

Nespresso and Sailing

Nespresso began its association with the sport of sailing as co-sponsor of Team Alinghi for the 32nd America’s Cup campaign between 2004-2007, as well as being the Official Coffee to the event. In 2010, Nespresso and Wally, the world leader in yachting innovation, launched the Nespresso Cup, an international regatta exclusively for the Wally Class in Portofino, Italy, followed by a second edition in 2011.

Nespresso’s partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand announced in April 2011 and their recent announcement as Official Coffee to the 34th America’s Cup will build on the company’s history with the America’s Cup and sailing.

Nespresso has chosen to support the sport of sailing as it offers a prestigious image, international scope providing multi-faceted opportunities for brand exposure and a unique way to experience the brand.
