Quantum Sail Design Group struck a deal with Dimension Polyant (DP) to acquire the latter’s sailmaking facility in Sri Lanka. The purchase is expected to be complete in the next three to six months.

Quantum President Ed Reynolds says the acquisition is part of the company’s overall strategic plan, which includes providing the highest quality sails to a global market. 'With an expanding network of dealers and increasing sales around the world, the Sri Lanka acquisition is a critical piece of the plan.' Adds Reynolds, 'We are very excited about the opportunity to acquire what we believe to be the premiere sailmaking production facility in the world.'

Quantum Sail Design Group was formed in 1996 by a group of independent and experienced sail makers.

The firm has grown to more than 60 sales and service outlets throughout the world with US headquarters in Traverse City, Michigan and European headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. Quantum also has sail making facilities in Malaysia, South Africa, and Traverse City, Quantum Sails
