The 2013 Bay of Islands Tall Ships and Classic invitation yacht regatta went off in superb conditions with a down wind start of about 18 - 20 knot, fine weather, and big beaming smiles all over the skippers faces.
The race started off Russell, went around a bouy at Okahu Island, then around Motuterakihi Island and back to Russell. Classic Line honours went to Lion, Cora (a Mullet boat) was the winner of the Gaff Rigger and Joe Cotton (Timber boat) trophies. Banksea was the handicap winner.

The 35ft ketch, Southern Cross, was doing its first test sail after a large refurbishment in Ashby's Boat Yard. This yacht is now about to be shipped off to its owner in the USA.
