Sharpie Nationals - Consistent breeze at Brighton in Race 3

The Sharpie National Championship 2013 got a bit faster in Race 3 as 10-15 knot breeze blew all afternoon, allowing many sailors to come up with their best performance of the regatta.

After the difficult and frustrating conditions in Race 2, the fleet was hoping for a day of sailing that was a lot more comfortable, and Race 3 provided just that.

With a 10-15 knot breeze all afternoon and a constant south-westerly direction, Race 3 provided a fair and comfortable race for all competitors.

There were some suprises with Race 3, with many sailors having their best performances of the regatta, but it was once again Mal Higgins who came through with the honours, winning the race just ahead of second place, sailing very consistently.

Higgins in 'Focus' with Sam Sanderson and Andrew Chisholm took the honours just ahead of Robbie Deussen in 'Rage Factor' with Tim Ross and Andy Dyer. Deussen sailed well all day having the lead early on. But the crew work and efficiency of Higgins put him in the lead shortly after.

In third place was suprise packet Chris Went sailing 'AREA Construction' with Tom Manhood and Karl Olsen. After a DNF in Race 2, Went put himself back in the upper end of the Progressive Results and took the third place ahead of some tough competition closely following.

New Years Day will be a lay day at the Sharpie Nationals and we are eagerly awaiting Race 4 and 5, both to be sailed when the regatta returns on Wednesday January 2nd.
