Simrad Yachting announces NSS Sport Version 2.5 Software

Simrad Yachting, a leader in the design and manufacture of world-class marine navigation, autopilot, radar, communications and fishfinding systems, announced today innovative new software enhancements for its powerful NSS Sport touchscreen multifunction display.

Now available as a free online download for current NSS users, the new RTM 2.5 software includes a host of performance improvements and feature enhancements including revolutionary GoFree™ wireless support for WIFI-1™and Insight Genesis™ cartography compatibility.

When paired with a the WIFI-1 gateway module, the NSS Version 2.5 update supports the new GoFree Wireless networking solution that enables wireless connectivity between Simrad NSS Multifunction Displays (MFD) and tablets, mobile phones and computers.

Offering boaters an exciting new level of navigational control, the powerful GoFree Controller app allows boaters to control Simrad NSS functions, in real time from anywhere on a boat. Replicating the NSS interface, the app enables zooming and panning, radar control, sonar and StructureScan® imaging operation, and full interactivity with SonicHub® entertainment options.

The new software update also allows Simrad NSS users to take full advantage of Simrad Yachting’s revolutionary personal map generation tool, Insight Genesis. A powerful service that uses sonar recordings from Broadband Sounder™ and StructureScan® sonar imaging transducers connected to Simrad NSS multifunction displays, Insight Genesis provides boaters with the ability to create custom contour maps of their favorite fishing and boating areas. Whether mapping previously uncharted waters or ensuring surveyed water details are accurate and current, Insight Genesis delivers a new level of personal cartography and situational awareness for boaters.

The Simrad NSS RTM 2.5 software update also improves and adds a number of functions to the Simrad NSS including an enhanced Man Overboard (MOB) feature that allows multiple MOBs to be enabled, as well as incorporating use of Navionics® ‘EasyView’ for improved spot soundings.
