Junior Sailing Pelican State Championships preview

The 55th Pelican class State Championships will be hosted by East Fremantle Yacht Club from 6th to 11th January 2013. 2012/13 is a particularly exciting season for East Fremantle Yacht Club, who will host the State Championships for the first time in five years.

Over thirty boats, sixty sailors along with supporting family and friends from Esperance Bay Yacht Club, Geographe Bay Yacht Club, Geraldton Yacht Club, Port Bouvard Yacht Club and South of Perth Yacht Club will descend upon East Fremantle Yacht Club to compete along with EFYC entrants in the week long 55th Pelican State Championship.


The Pelican dinghy is the premier training dinghy for junior sailors in Western Australia. Developed over 50 years ago the class is well established, with at least 80 currently sailed between six Western Australian Yacht Clubs. The Pelican is sailed by boys and girls from 8 to 16.

An action packed schedule of racing and shore festivities will commence with the competitor’s arrivals on Saturday 5th January 2013 and continues through until Friday 11th January 2013.
