Roads and Maritime Services Acting General Manager Maritime Operations Trevor Williams today announced a free safety guide on the key aquatic events to be held on Sydney Harbour over summer 2012-13 is available for boaters and spectators.
'The 28-page full-colour Sydney’s Summer Aquatic Events – A Boater’s Guide was produced and distributed free by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS),' Mr Williams said.
'The guide contains safety details about the major aquatic events planned to take place on Sydney Harbour, including advice for boaters on anchoring, best vantage points, special-event navigation restrictions and exclusion zones.
'The big events which draw hundreds of thousands of spectators afloat and ashore are all listed, including the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race starting on Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve on Sydney Harbour, and the multitude of events planned for Australia Day.
'The guide also contains maps of event and race courses to help skippers prepare for and plan their day on the water,' Mr Williams said.
The guide is available free at waterfront clubs, marinas, retailers and chandleries or from Maritime service centres in the Sydney region. The information and maps can also be downloaded online at www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/docs/aquatic-events-1213.pdf
