Exposure Marine are making their debut at METS 2012 with their striking new range of compact, high power, lightweight, rechargeable lights, designed to take personal safety to new levels and to protect night vision afloat.

World champion solo sailor Mike Golding has chosen Exposure Marine’s lights for his fourth Vendee Globe Race. Project manager and boat captain, Graham Tourell says 'Due to these torches being so lightweight and powerful, having dual functions and really long lasting rechargeable batteries, Exposure Marine lights have allowed us to kick off our heavy main trimming torch, diving light, strobes and the stock of spare batteries. Having a three in one light helps us save weight, which improves Mike’s boat speed in his bid to win the Vendee!'

With unrivalled power, burn times and versatility, Exposure’s lights combine the latest LED technology with highly powerful Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries in lightweight, waterproof aluminium-anodised casings. Globally renown as the premier cycle light specialist, Exposure’s Marine division have spent two years engineering and testing their high performance lights for the marine environment with Ian Walker and Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing in the Volvo Ocean Race. The lights proved themselves throughout the extreme rigours of the race, especially when Abu Dhabi’s mast came down on a pitch-black night; and significantly by the end of the race, all the Volvo Race teams had Exposure lights on board!

Designed for the marine leisure sailors and power boaters, with a focus on safety, endurance and brightness, the lights are highly suitable for the commercial marine and search and rescue sectors too.

The Exposure X2 combines a brilliant 700 lumens, high output white searchlight, which will last for over one hour on full beam, 13 hours on low, and up to 70 hours in red beam mode to prevent dazzling eyes and impairing night vision when working above or below decks. This waterproof light floats beam upwards making it indispensable in a MOB situation – click and throw. The emergency SOS or strobe options extend burn times and enhance safety. Its compact form makes it the perfect utility torch, half the weight of a multi-tool the X2 lends itself to be carried as a personal safety device.

The X2 can be located around the boat in recharging holsters with 12V, 240V and USB options, and fixed in any position with magnetic marine guerrilla clips and suction brackets, making it a highly versatile light around any boat.

The Exposure XS micro torches are the smallest, brightest, toughest and lightest in the field. Designed to be worn around your neck, the XS is the ultimate in simplicity. Lighter weight, more compact and more versatile than a head torch, the XS can be used in a headband, if required.

With unmatched power to weight and size, the XS offers high definition output and lowlight intensity in a miniature package, with up to six hours burn time on high and an incredible 60 hours on low beam. The option of rechargeable batteries takes this powerful little light from 80 lumens, up to a very bright 100 lumens, with slightly shorter max burn times of four hours.

The XS lights are available in white, red or green beams options, the latter two to protect night vision. The lights can be quickly attached to most surfaces on your boat, rib or tender using Exposure’s basic stanchion bracket, suction mount or Magni-Grip tri-pod bracket, making them highly versatile as working, reading or even mini navigation lights. A high-visibility silicon band enables a simple twist operation with one hand, protects the torch from impact, and is safe to hold the torch between your teeth for those busy moments when your hands are full and you still need light!

Ian Walker, Skipper of Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing Team, Volvo Ocean Race 2011/12 says 'This little light is my favourite piece of equipment. It was so useful, it lived around my neck all day and night for the entire race. At night the red light allows you to work without disturbing your crew, or anyone else’s night vision. And, even in the daylight it’s useful down below decks. You never know when you are going to need it, and with the little XS around your neck it is always ready for you but never gets in the way.'
