Wind is revealing the real protagonist of this Platu 25 World Championship (23-29 September). After a forced pause on Wednesday when it was impossible to race because of too much wind (almost 40 knots), today a total dead calm kept crews in harbour. This morning start was scheduled at 11. After a long waiting, at the end around at 3.30 p.m. a breese rippled waters and a light wind started blowing from South. Boats went outside and the Committee decided to try a start. After a while, the Scirocco suddenly stopped and crews had to go back.

Tomorrow the start is scheduled at 10. A wind from South is expected, light in morning but increasing in the early afternoon. Wind allowing, tomorrow the last races will be a sort of match race between the Italian 'Euz II Monella Vagabonda' owned by Francesco Lanera and helmed by Sandro Montefusco and the Spanish 'Mar de Frades' helmed by Carlos Paz for conquering the World Champion title.

The Italian boat has four point advantage, but tomorrow, with another possible discard, Spanish could discard the sixth place of yesterday, getting nearer. Fighting for the third position there are more boats. The Austrian 'La Burra', helmed by Thomas Laherstorfer with the expert Markus Sigrist as a tactician is third in the general ranking list, closely followed by the Italian 'Hurrà' helmed by Francesco Lagirti and with the sailmaker Angelo Costa as a tactician and by 'Five for Fighting' owned by Tommaso De Bellis and helmed by Andrea Casale, with four points of distance on the Spanish 'Sori' helmed by Ramon Oeja. Therefore, the struggle for the podium is still open and tomorrow the last challenge will be very hard-fought.
