Rivergate Brisbane abuzz for boat show

by Narelle Jensen on 28 Sep 2012
Rivergate International Boat Show - Brisbane’s on water boat show. Rivergate Brisbane www.rivergate.com.au
Rivergate International Boat Show is almost here and the Rivergate Marina and Exhibitor site is undergoing a major transformation.

The marquees are going up, the new gardens look great, and boats are starting to arrive in the marina and on the hardstand.

More than 120 Exhibitors are also prepping, to look their very best for the 3 day event.

They say 'it pays to advertise' and if the interest in Rivergate International Boat Show from the boating business world, industry related companies and the public is any gauge, everyone involved with the Boat Show is going to be busy.

Apart from displays, we have invited Exhibitors to provide information and demonstration sessions in the Exhibition Hall and outdoors. ‘Laura Jay’ a 90 foot classic Norman Wright built motor yacht will lie alongside an array of beautiful craft in the Marina including Maritimo, Mustang, Sanya, Hanse, Perry, just to name a few. And then there’s the hardstand. Noble, Sirocco, Quintrex, Kawasaki, Mercury, Bluefin, Stejcraft, Yanmar and the list goes on.

Boaties are a strong community on the water and we have acknowledged the importance of those who give their time, at no cost on the water, the Coast Guard. VMR Redcliffe and VMR Sandgate will be on site to lend a hand and to inform and educate the boating public on water safety. But you don’t have to be a boatie to enjoy this 3 day event. If you kayak, dive, fish or just enjoy the outdoors, then Rivergate International Boat Show is not to be missed.

There are new innovations and tried and true favourites. There’s fashion, food and fun activities for the kids, including a giant jumping castle, face painting, performances by Sam The Magician.

But if a leisurely cruise on the Brisbane River is more your style, then join the crew of the Kookaburra Queen paddle wheeler for the 'River Rhapsody' morning tea on Saturday sixth and Sunday October 7th.

The Kookaburra Queen will depart Rivergate Marina at 10.30am for a 2 hour return trip. On board you’ll enjoy champagne and a delectable morning tea, accompanied by fashions from Marg K boutiques. $45 per head. The cruises are filling fast, so book now on www.kookaburrariverqueens.com

You can also travel to the Rivergate International Boat Show on the 'Kookaburra Queen' or 'Lady Brisbane'. Both boats depart from Brett’s Wharf, Hamilton just a few metres from Brisbane City Cat’s Brett’s Wharf Hamilton Terminal.

One of the major highlights is the 'Special Event' auction on Sunday October 7th. More than 50 boats, including the latest addition, a near new 56’ Riviera Enclosed Flybridge Cruiser (in conjunction with Grant Torrens International Marine) will go under the hammer in what’s believed to be a world first, a live internet auction.

Bidding will start at 1pm.

Come by Car or catch the ferry but get on down to Rivergate International Boat Show 5, 6 and 7 October, 2012 at Rivergate Marina, Rivergate Place, Murarrie. Just downstream from the Gateway Bridge. Adults $10, children 17 and under free.
