Conference Championship Laser Regatta - Faye Bennet a success

A 100% success rate over last year's Faye Bennet, this year's event got underway with a delightful 6-12 knot southerly on Annapolis Harbor. Six races were sailed this morning right off of Triton Point before a 40 minute lunch break was taken at 1pm. After lunch the racing area was moved to the Navy N-cove to avoid the weekend powerboat chop in the harbor.
Six additional races were sailed after lunch in champagne conditions with the breeze up a bit between 12 and 15 knots. All courses were W4s with no protests recorded. Thanks to our team of Midshipmen for setting marks, our umpire, have Clinnin, for upholding the law on the water, and Capt. Dick Morin for standing by to hear protests on land, although there weren't any. The forecast tomorrow is for another beautiful September Maryland day with a lighter Northwesterly breeze.
On Sunday, another beautiful day in Annapolis saw cooler temperatures with relatively breezy conditions. Racing resumed this morning promptly at 0930 on the Severn River right off of the Robert Crown Center in a 12 to 15 knot Northwesterly. Only four W4s remained to be sailed today and all races were completed by 1230 with no protests filed. Congratulations to the top five finishers in the Faye Bennet who will go forward to represent MAISA at the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship to be hosted by the University of Southern California in Long Beach on November 2-4. Thanks again to our umpires, Dave Clinnin and Capt. Dick Morin and to our team of Mids for helping set marks and run races.
