Today marks the first day of Fall Cork 2012, with 221 athletes and six fleets, this will be a very busy regatta. The single handed boats are the Laser Standard, Laser Radial and the Optimist fleets. In the double handed boats we have the Albacores, 420’s and the 29ers.
This event will also serve as the District 3 Championship of the North American Grand Prix series for the Laser Standard and Laser Radial. The Kingston wind was blowing this morning however as the athletes set off the wind started to settle down. The racing started today at 12 pm with no delays. While it’s windy and rainy the athletes didn’t seem to mind. The volunteers on the other hand are out and making sure that the racing is successful while getting a little wet.
We are very excited to have David Wright our Olympic Laser sailor here with us today. He will be giving a seminar at 4 p.m. in the Press Lounge at Portsmouth harbour. All are invited to come down to listen to Dave who will be speaking about his Olympic experience and the importance of goal setting.
