UIM F2 World Powerboat Championship 2012 is being held on 15th and 16th September at the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham where local Powerboat Racer Malcolm Goodman (30, St Helens) will face one of his toughest challenges to date as he gets ready to compete this weekend.

Goodman who has been racing powerboats for 17 years now currently leads the British F2 Championship with one round to go in the competition at Stewartby on the 22/23 of September.

Recent weeks have seen Goodman secure the 2012 Powerboat GP RYA British F2 Sprint championship where he won two out of three heats and a second place to secure the sprint title from 12 of Britain's top F2 drivers.

He then secured the Silver European UIM medal as he battled hard in Auronzo, Italy on the 25/26 August narrowly missing out to the current World Champion Erik Stark of Sweden. Goodman and JPL Racing Team mate Ian Andrews faced strong competition in the form of 15 of Europe's best competitors from Sweden, Norway, Italy, Latvia, Hungary and Germany.

Faced with stiff competition at World Class level Goodman remains focused and is ready for the challenge ahead 'The European Championships showed me how tough the competition is but also proved that I can be competitive and really challenge at a World level. Auronzo was a bit of a learning curve for the team but we've returned to Britain and learnt valuable lessons from the experience the whole team are working hard for a positive result this weekend on home water!'
After an absence of over a decade on the weekend of 15 -16 September the F2 World Powerboat Championships will once again be contested on UK waters.

The National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham will play host to this entertaining, thrilling and exciting event, which will see some 24 drivers from across the globe battling it out on the water and potentially reaching speeds in excess of 200km/hr.

Tickets for the event are now available online or can be bought at the gate on the day. Gates open at 08.00am and the action starts from Powerboat GP website
