Audi Optimist Junior Cup - Liam Orel reigns on day two

Liam Orel - Audi Junior Cup 2012 Jana Pines
On the second day of the Audi Optimist Junior Cup, 167 sailors from eight countries were greeted with a nice sea breeze. Racing kicked off in relatively light winds, which increased during the day to 15 knots, allowing all the divisions to take full advantage of it and successfully complete the qualifying series.

After six races, Liam Orel (SLO) takes the top spot with a three point lead over second placed Maria Vittoria Marchesini (ITA). Close behind is Sven Stevanovic (CRO) with only one point separating them, but also Francesca Bergamo (ITA), currently fourth, is hot on the heels of Maria V. Marchesini.

Once returning to shore, sailors gathered on club's terrace where organizers served lunch, prior to giving out more than 160 prizes, provided by several generous sponsors. Nobody leaves empty handed and everybody still hopes for the jackpot – a brand new optimist.

Racing is scheduled to resume for the final day at 11 am. Competitors will be split into gold, silver and bronze fleets.
