Copa Sotogrande was held in Spain by the Real Club Maritimo from 10th to 13th August 2012. It took only two attempts to see Olympic Alfonso Domingos' Bigamist win a race at the Soto 40 European Championship in Sotogrande where he confirmed his excellent present condition.

The competition started very well for Domingos who was placed in podium position after the first day.

The last day was excellent for Portuguese Domingos – the Olympic sailors’ Hugo Rocha and Nuno Bareto - obtaining the final victory two points ahead of Agustin Zulueta´s Iberdrola. The third place was for Ngoni - with Tony Buckinham - which improved day by day, fourth place for Alegre - with Andy Soriano - still leader in Owner Driver, but away from the overall leader Iberdrola.

Last were the German Black Pearl and the Spanish Noticia IV and Ceuta Sailing Team - rookie in Soto 40. After Bigamist's victory in the fourth race, it's clear how open the Soto 40 class is - with a different winner each event. In Barcelona Ngoni, in Sardegna Iberdrola, in the King's Cup Alegre, and the mentioned victory of Bigamist in Sotogrande.
