With the rise of the internet, everything about the way we research, buy and sell has changed. Buying and selling boats included.
Marine Auctions have harnessed the reach and popularity of the web adding online auctions to its repertoire. Director, Adrian Seiffert says the benefit of selling boats online is that 'it’s economical and accessible to anybody, wherever they happen to be'.
'If people are too far away from auction centre, selling and bidding online is ideal. We are holding online auctions each month with three to four weeks lead time for marketing.'
Newly appointed John Ferrett will be handling the online auctions for Marine Auctions, joining the company two weeks ago from a background in running an auction firm specialising in IT.
'I don’t have to convince anybody, the internet has changed the way people shop and research,' says John. 'You may have heard of ebay!'
As John continues: 'Online auctions can be accessed by a whole new market – a global market. It’s a win-win for vendor and customer. It reduces costs, opens up the market to more people, increases competition which gets better prices for the vendor, which leads to happy vendors.
The Marine Auctions October auction, held at the inaugural Rivergate International Boat Show, Sunday 7 October, at 1pm is now open for entries. Only a limited amount of selected vessels will be offered in this Auction.
As John explains: 'We will be using webcam for this auction, which will facilitate the process. Buyers all over the world will be able to see the boats, watch the auction as it happens and bid online. The more people we can include in the auction process, the better. The internet is making that possible.'
Upcoming auctions include: Saturday 11 August 10am Rivergate Marina, Brisbane; online auction underway and closes Tuesday 14 August 3pm; Sunday 9 September, 10am Runaway Bay Marina, Gold Coast. The current online auction features boats from Sydney, Adelaide and Perth.
