METS success, Harbour plan, Get onboard the Boating Survey
METS in Amsterdam Supplied Supplied
From first reports, METS was bigger and better than ever this year, according to our team on the ground there, AIMEX and various Australian companies who made the trip to Amsterdam for this massive trade-only event.
Some good stories, new products and successful alliances will follow later this week and next, so look out for them.
Closer to home, the BIAA and MIA are urging boaters to get involved with the boating survey, a quick bit of input on your part that will yield valuable information for these organisations to lobby on your behalf.
Without data it is harder for boaters; for industry and for governments to attract and or direct investment into boating facilities and services.
While allied leisure industries such as tourism use research to maximize public and private investment the boating sector has been left high and dry at a time when investment attraction is increasingly difficult.
Take a few moments to have your say and get the numbers required for the survey to be valid.
Finding out about usage, expenditure and commitment to boating is crucial to securing funding. MIAA
Also in preparation for boating over summer, the NSW government has launched an initiative to make boating even better on Sydney Harbour with the Sydney Harbour Boating Destinations Plan, designed to clearly indicated the facilities and amenities on offer for the boating community. You can check out the plan at www.rms.nsw.gov.au/bdp
Many more features coming up this week, once the travelers return from METS and other world marine centres, a preview of the inaugural Taiwan International Boat Show which is scheduled for May 2014, and a return of an old favourite, Couran Cove on the Gold Coast, which is under new ownership.
