TetraMedia at METS, AIMEX too, SCIBS new site, Green dream boat

Flood, fire, drought - this is Australia. If you're mopping up, filling out insurance claims on the hail damage to boats and vehicles, or still dry, dusty and fearing fire, we hope this week's batch of news, reviews and features provides some distraction from a crazy start to the Australian spring/summer.

We cover all the upcoming local and international boat shows, with previews of the 2013 METS which starts tomorrow in Amsterdam, with a flotilla of Australian and NZ companies on show with their innovations and world-class concepts, services and products, and still others trawling the halls in search of the next big boating thing.

The Publisher of MBW and Sail-World (among others), Rob Kothe, is on the ground at METS, meeting the world's major brands and innovators and discussing expanded advertising across the global sites which make TetraMedia the largest marine media network in the world. Look out for reports fresh from METS over the next few days.

Leading the charge at METS is AIMEX, for the first time launching the 2014 Australian Marine Export Industry Directory at the world's premier marine trade exhibition.

The annual printed publication is distributed globally and is available in a fully interactive digital format. Check it out here www.aimex.asn.au and order your copy.

Then there's the entirely revamped Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show website, which delivers streamlined online application for exhibitors, all the info about the 2014 show and your own personal, editable registration in a section called 'My SCIBS'.

Sanctuary Cove's head of events, Johan Hasser indicated key priorities were registering, booking space and ease of access to information and resources. He said the new site was a 'one stop shop for the exhibitor, with all the information about the show available just one or two clicks away.'

Then there's all the latest news, image galleries and clips from previous events, plus tabs to connect with Facebook, YouTube or Twitter.

Besides all that, it looks incredible, and certainly places this major international event among its peers, including Cannes, Monaco and Miami.

Various products are launching in time for summer, plenty of new models, gear and gadgets, as well as something to inspire the enviro-crew - the green, floating, nearly zero-hullprint Uboat, the brainchild of a NASA intern who looked to the world's waterways for a solution to urban sprawl and sustainable living.

You won't be able to place your order just yet, but one day, when our cities are choked, we may find the Uboat the ideal live aboard option.

Enough for now, many more stories and features to come. Take care on the water, and on land, whatever the forecast in your neck of the woods, or bay.

Have a great, safe and productive week!
