New Tasman record, innovative seasick cure, another confused sailor...
While the summer sailing season is just starting here, in the Northern Hemisphere you are best to escape the winter to keep sailing. Read how in the Canary Islands over 280 boats have already fled the cold and are preparing to depart for their hop across the Atlantic, while America's longest running rally, the ARC Caribbean 1500 is departing freezing American shores for warmer climes in the Caribbean.

Nominated for a DAME award for innovation .. .
Celebration of great achievements is part of the landscape of the cruising world, so this week we bring you news of a captivating painting – of Pete Goss in the Southern Ocean, and of a documentary – of Laura Dekker's childhood circumnavigation.
John Jamieson is back with some more useful advice on sail trimming and a final year student has invented a still-better life jacket to ward off hypothermia.
