Cruising Masterclass content...unhappy endings...seamanship secrets...

AAA Cruising Masterclass at SIBS  .. .

Talking of acquiring a new boat, one simply must take notice of the yachts which have achieved nomination in their category for the European Yacht of the Year. Some of them are not available in New Zealand and Australian but many are familiar names. The list is out this week!

The ubiquitous iPhone is in the news again for sailors, this time as an aid to communication with coast guard and family while sailing; and next week we'll be talking about a similar App available in Australia. But everyone doesn't agree. Read the article and tell us what you think.

SafeTrx screen shots  .. .

Many other interesting articles too: John Jamieson always comes up with seamanship secrets that are simple common sense and important knowledge – another one this week. The book of the week is from the prolific sailing writer Rod Heikell, a little lighter tale than usual, the 'Trade Wind Foodie'.

Tales of adventures being attempted, of rally organisers creating fantastic rallies to the Pacific and elsewhere, and some of the Sydney Boat Show highlights. Browse down the headlines to choose your interest.

Wishing you sweet and warm winter sailing.

Lee Mylchreest,
The title of Rod Heikell's latest writing only hints at this book's content and coverage.
