Gold medal ad opps, PWC prize at Melbourne show, AIMEX tourism triumph

Welcome to another news-packed week. There are heaps of features this week to inform and build your marine business - opportunities, product reviews, news and opinions.

First up, new research predicts tablet devices will overtake PCs in sheer numbers by 2015. This is a massive milestone in the uptake of personal communication and a consumer trend that advertisers are moving swiftly to adapt to. It's a 'NOW' world in all facets of delivery - communication, entertainment and news.

The rise in tablets and Ultrabooks like the Asus Taichi are driving consumer demand for immediate, interactive and multimedia news.  .. ©

Our own research shows 50% of our readers do not wait to sit down with their laptop or their desktop computer to discover the latest marine, boating, cruising and sailing news – they are online on their mobile phones and tablets.

So marine businesses have to advertise online. It makes sense after all - to catch fish you have to fish where the fish are!

Sail-World Aus on iPad

This is a huge year for Australian sailing. The 2012 Olympic sailing regatta starts in Weymouth on Sunday July 29 2012. Australia has a good chance of a record medal haul. It will be an exciting Olympic Games for Australia and the build up - and interest from sailors all over the Asia-Pacific - will be huge.

We are offering a range of three month packages which cover the build up to London 2012 and the Olympic sailing regatta, the Australian winter regatta and the very important 2012 Boat Show season, an ideal way to cast your line in the water . . . Just get in touch!

AIMEX and Superyacht Australia as the one body are looking forward to the first outcome of the recent ASMEX conference - CEO MaryAnne Edwards attending the invitation-only tourism forum, 'Destination Q', to be held in Cairns at the end of June where she intends to highlight the key issues facing the marine and superyacht sector. This marks a massive leap for marine exporters and the superyacht sector, back on the tourism radar with pledges of support from Tourism chiefs and government ministers.

Collinson FX Market Commentary: June 12, 2012 - Moves fail to impress
Collinson FX,
Collinson FX market Commentary: June 12, 2012 - Last week's correction rally was the biggest of the year but was sparked by negative news rather than positive economic data.
