Sanctuary Cove reduces rates, Mighty Multihulls, sexy zero CO2 tender

If you take a look over the range of stories this week, you'd be forgiven for thinking we were starting the new year off with a boom, not winding down for the festive season!

The team at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show has pulled out all stops to accommodate exhibitors, past and new, for next year's event, 24-27 May on Queensland's Gold Coast. Rates have been reduced by 5% across all areas and there is an additional 10% off with the marine industry discount. Payment terms too have been made flexible in light of the challenges of the past year.

Our feature this week is the examination of the rise of the Multihull - which in the face of economic downturn has continued to sell around the world, both power and sail. Industry pundits believe it's the intrinsic strengths of these stable, sturdy and spacious vessels that have won them preference across all markets, with the additional kick along by their admission in the most hallowed of all racing events, the America's Cup. Now, they are sexy with the seasoned sailing crowd too.

Speaking of sexy, check out the prototype of the Sauter zero carbon superyacht tender - power, performance and plenty of appeal (for just 605,000 pounds!) with zero emissions and using 40% less fuel than what's currently available on the market, according to its designer, the creative genius Richard Sauter. I'll take one in each colour!

Along with a heap of products launching over the next few weeks, there are some reviews of 2011 from marine organisations and companies, revealing how they as individuals and we as an industry have fared over the past 12 months.

Have a great week! Send us your own news, views and comments.
