Call it synchronicity, or entanglement (if you are a quantum physicist) but right now there are fleets racing westward across the Pacific (the Transpac, from Los Angeles to Hawaii) and eastward across the Atlantic - the Transatlantic Race, from Newport to The Lizard. That's a lot of big boat sailing going on all at once. Stand by, the ghost of Charlie Barr.
And there are plenty of big boats signed up for the Chicago-Mackinac Race, which starts on 15 July. Sail-World.com will be providing official media coverage of North America's biggest race, distributed to its regional sites around the world (Sail-World USA, Sail-World Canada, Sail-World Europe, Sail-World Asia, Sail-World NZ and Sail-World Australia) which together reach over 1.8 million sailors each year.
Matthew Gallagher, chair of the Chicago Yacht Club's Communications Committee and a first-time Mac skipper said ‘We are thrilled with our new relationship with www.Sail-World.com. The opportunity to tell the story of our race to their world-wide audience is one we here at Chicago Yacht Club are greatly excited about.'
We've reports from the PWA and kite surfing too - if it goes by puff-power, it must be some sort of sailing. And because no newsletter would be complete without a mention of the America's Cup - here is the new (AC34) series format in full.
